Project Update 1.10.07
As we begin a new year, I would like to extend the appreciation of the OLLEISN Steering Committee for your agency's participation and support of OLLEISN during the past year. 2007 is shaping up to be another year of growth for OLLEISN, both in the number of agencies participating and the amount of information available.
Enclosed with this update is a copy of the OLLEISN Roll Call Training Videos that is recommended for use in training your staff about the value and use of OLLEISN. On the CD is a PDF document with a set of directions that can be printed and used by a trainer, or copied and given to employees to read prior to viewing the video. (The same information is also available as a text document on the CD.) After inserting the CD in your computer, it should automatically load and give you a menu. To open and print the directions please select "open folder to view files" and then select the "PDF Read Me" file. If you do not wish to read or print the directions, you may simply select the "play" option on the menu. We still have OLLEISN brochures and Quick Start Guides available for you in quantities to use in your training efforts. You may request copies by contacting Jody Smith at OACP, , or OHLEGsupport@ag.state.oh.us.
In addition to the enclose video, I would like to bring the following items to your attention.
- OLLEISN recently released to all vendors its newest software enhancement, OLLEISN 2.1. This enhancement allows the sharing of the following data if you collect and store it in your RMS: field interview notes; suspect, victim and witness information; property types, such as drugs, jewelry, securities; search warrants; traffic citations; pawn shop transactions, service calls, registered offenders, concealed carry permits and firearm registrations; evidence; and biometric data - mug shots, fingerprints, signatures and text searches. Please contact your vendor to urge them to adopt this new enhancement as soon as possible. You, as their customer, have the greatest ability to impact their actions to incorporate this enhancement quickly.
- A new website for OLLEISN, mentioned in the videos, will be available soon at www.olleisn.org, but it is not available now due to delays beyond our control. We will notify you by email when the website is available. Once it is up, we encourage you and your employees to check the site regularly for OLLEISN user information and support. The new website will provides a convenient way for you and your employees to report your success stories using OLLEISN and OHLEG. Your success reports are critically important to our ability to encourage ongoing financial and political support for OLLEISN.
- I encourage you at any time to share your suggestions, ideas or concerns regarding OLLEISN to me, any member of the OLLEISN Steering Committee, or to the OLLEISN Project Staff at OACP (OHLEGsupport@ag.state.oh.us).
